Apple Scholarships

Apple Scholars

The Kalinga Foundation started a small-scale scholarship programme in 2001. This programme supported a small number of children who wanted to continue their education after primary school, but for whom poverty within their families made this impossible. In 2009, the year the first Papaya School students completed their primary education, this scholarship programme was expanded. Now, therefore, the Apple Project is a scholarship programme for children coming from Papaya. This scholarship programme enables them to continue their learning at a secondary school and then also continue thereo

Scholarships

In 2009, the first students who started at Papaya School in 2003 moved on to secondary school thanks to the Apple Project (scholarship programme). Since then, every year a group of Papaya students have moved on.

To receive a scholarship, a student and his/her family must meet set conditions, such as drive and motivation of themselves and their parents. In addition, the family's economic situation is reassessed. In 2017, the first batch who ever started at Papaya and then received scholarships for successive High School and then college/university graduated.
