small-scale scholarship programme in 2001. This programme supported a small number of children who wanted to continue their education after primary school, but for whom poverty within their families made this impossible.  In 2009, the year the first Papaya School students completed their primary education, this scholarship programme was expanded. Now, therefore, the Apple Project is a scholarship programme for children coming from Papaya. Since then, every year a group of Papaya students have moved on.<\/p><p>To receive a scholarship, a student and his\/her family must meet set conditions, such as drive and motivation of themselves and their parents.
